more pages from the steve garvey oddball binder - this would be part 3

let's continue the trip through my steve garvey collection.  we are still in the oddball binder, which contains a number of, oddly enough, oddballs.

1977 pepsi glove discs and 1978 pepsi
here are the backs
i prefer coca-cola products (prefer is not a strong enough word), but i thank pepsi for putting these things in their 'cartons' back in the late 1970's.

now for some msa discs - starting in the upper left we have a 1976 isaly's, a 1976 towne club, a 1978 pepsi (removed from its glove), and a 1978 big t disc
it's hard to tell the isaly's and the towne club apart, unless you look on the back
i can't believe i didn't order one of those pepsi shirts!  then again, we were drinking shasta cola back then.

one more item for tonight - an uncut sheet of 1978 o-pee-chee cards, including garvey in the upper right
it's a darn shame that there aren't any variations on the sheet, although a young robin yount and don baylor's 1978 card are nice to have.  here are the bright and bilingual backs
buddy bell and bump wills are pretty well creased, but i don't mind.

rounding up dodgers

even when i was deep into my steve garvey supercollector phase, i was somewhat ambivalent about the 'disc' cards that were issued in the late 1970's.  i think i purchased one example for the garvey collection, but didn't bother to get them all.  they all look pretty much the same, and some (like the fbi disc) can be pretty hard to find, right mrmopar?

anyway, i recently saw an auction for a 1976 isaly's disc team set, and figured i would bite at the opening bid for no other reason than it would mean another andy messersmith as a dodger card for the collection.  well, i won.  here are the four discs that make up the team set.

ron cey
the aforementioned steve garvey
the aforementioned andy messersmith, sans hat
and don sutton
i guess that's all i have to say about that.
