doug rau through the mail success!

one week is all it took for doug rau to sign and return his 1978 topps card.two things i remember about doug rau. the first is that he was almost always pitching when we would go to dodger stadium. either him or sutton. i don't believe i ever saw hooton or john or rhoden. the second is that he was the pitcher tommy lasorda removed from the 4th game of the 1977 world series - a process that was caught on tape. it's pretty fun to listen to, and i like to think davey lopes was the voice of reason trying to get the two guys to calm down.

at any rate, rau pitched for the dodgers from 1972 through 1979. i believe he was injured during the 1980 season, and finished his career with the angels in 1981.

this is the second step in my modest 1978 topps dodgers autograph project. here's the tally:

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to get them all. Did you send out all of the cards TTM at the same time or are you staggering it?

Another great one. Rau was always one of my favorites.

i have sent about half of the cards out so far. i am close to hitting a wall with this project, i am afraid. i have also turned to ebay for a couple of the cards.
