hondo gets his due thanks to his performance in the 1963 world series, which is recounted on the back of the card:
howard is listed as 6'7", with the afro 6'10" (yes, a 'fletch' reference), and with the extension of his left arm on the follow through, he looks even taller. if that photo looks familiar, it's because topps used it in their flagship set, although colorized, for the simply awesome world series subset game 4 card:
i like to read that card as 'sealing yanks' doooooooooooooooooooooooooooom' and then cackle like a crazy person. i also enjoy seeing the old dodger stadium dugout seats on this card, too. simpler, happier, non-mccourt times, those were.
