the harry kalas memorial patch

harry kalas had been the voice of the phillies since 1971 after beginning his big league broadcasting career with the astros in 1965.  in april of 2009, the 73-year old died from heart disease in the phillies' broadcast booth prior to a game. the phils wore a patch in his memory for the remainder of the season with his initials.  here it is, on their chest rather than their sleeves, on ryan madson's 2010 topps card.
this 2009 upper deck sweet spot raul ibanez is a good example, too
and it's visible on the back of jimmy rollins' 2010 topps card as well
here's the card that represents the memorial in the binder, though.  a 2010 upper deck phillies' team checklist with chase utley and ryan howard
kalas' voice was recognized not just by phillies' fans, but by many others as well.  he did voiceover work for nfl films in addition to his work for the phillies.  in 2002, kalas received the ford c. frick award and was enshrined into the broadcaster's wing of the hall of fame.  over the course of his career, he called 6 no-hitters, 6 national league championship series, and 3 world series which included both of their world championships in 1980 and 2008.
