he's the guy the dodgers traded to the indians to get milton bradley (they also sent andrew brown to cleveland in that deal). that means that the blue essentially traded gutierrez for andre ethier. anyway, franklin signed and returned a 2003 topps card for me last season.
he had since moved on from the indians to the mariners, where he had a breakout year in 2009 with 18 homers, 70 rbi and a .283 batting average as the m's center fielder. in 2010, i expected big things, but his production faltered although he won a gold glove. this year, he has been limited to just a handful of games and is hitting around .250. i wish him well, but i think the deal worked out better for the dodgers.
as far as andrew brown goes, i picked up this 2003 playoff absolute memorabilia card from sportlots recently, cashing in some 'points'.
they used to let you use points as credit against an order, but not anymore. now they have a selection of cards (vintage, relic, numbered, etc.) that you can choose from to redeem your points. this one cost me 300 points, i think, which probably relates to about $30 spent. was it worth it? meh. i'm on the fence.
brown, who was originally acquired by the dodgers from the braves in the gary sheffield deal, appeared in a few games for cleveland in 2006 before joining the a's after a stop in the padres' organization. oddly, brown's trade from san diego to oakland marked the second time he had been dealt for milton bradley. in oakland, brown appeared in over 30 games as a reliever in both 2007 and 2008. he has since been part of the nationals and cardinals organizations, but currently is not affiliated with any big league team.
