this is the oldest dodger card i own. it's a 1951 topps red back gil hodges.
hodges debuted in 1943, going 0 for 2 in a single game. he missed the rest of the 1943 season, along with the 1944 and 1945 seasons while serving in the military. in 1950, he hit four homers in a game. his 17 bases in that game (he also had a single) tied the major league record.
he was quite a clouting first baseman, indeed!
